Overview

We’re looking for a creative, observant content creator to spend time on a donkey sanctuary capturing real, meaningful moments and turning them into engaging social media content.

Oscar’s Place is a GFAS-accredited donkey rescue and sanctuary with 235+ donkeys, a nationally airing TV series (“Donkey King” on ABC stations), and a large social media audience. Our content performs best when it is real, emotional, and rooted in daily life on the ranch.

This is a hands-on, on-site role where you will both capture and shape stories from the ranch into content for Instagram and Facebook, including short-form video.

What You’ll Do

  • Walk the ranch daily and identify authentic, unscripted moments worth capturing
  • Capture photo and video content using a phone or camera
  • Edit short-form videos (Reels-style content) as part of turning raw footage into stories
  • Write simple, warm captions in the voice of the organization
  • Submit content for quick approval via group text
  • Post approved content to Instagram and Facebook
  • Follow planned content schedules during TV airing periods
  • Maintain consistent posting during regular weeks (daily ranch life, updates, and stories)
  • Monitor comments and flag anything needing team attention

What We’re Looking For

  • You notice moments others walk past and naturally think in stories
  • You have a strong visual eye for photography and short-form video
  • You are comfortable capturing and editing video into engaging narratives
  • You can write clearly and warmly (no marketing language or fluff)
  • You are self-directed and comfortable working independently
  • You are reliable and consistent with posting responsibilities
  • You are comfortable around animals (donkeys preferred but not required)
  • You understand Instagram and Facebook content and what performs well

Important Notes

  • This is an in-person role only (Hopland, CA)
  • Content happens throughout the day (morning, afternoon, sunset)
  • Flexibility is essential
  • This is not a desk job or scheduled 9–5 role

We prioritize real-time storytelling from the ranch. Video editing is an important part of shaping raw moments into finished content, but the foundation of this role is being present and noticing what matters as it happens.
