Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Social Media Content Creator to elevate our church’s online presence across various digital platforms. In this role, you will craft engaging, visually appealing, and strategically optimized content that resonates with our local community. Your creativity and expertise will drive brand awareness, foster community engagement, and support our overall digital marketing goals. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to shape compelling narratives through multimedia content and stay ahead in the fast-paced world of social media marketing.
Key Responsibilities
- Content Creation & Scheduling: Generate, edit, publish, and share content - at least two to four times per week - consisting of text, high-quality photos, videos, and graphics (original text, images, and videos) to promote Sunday services, special events, and small groups.
- Platform Management: Oversee official church social media accounts to increase engagement, answer direct messages, and monitor community comments.
- Social Media Strategy: Maintain a consistent brand image across all platforms.
- Event Promotion: Promote weekly services, special events, and church initiatives to increase attendance and engagement.
- Ministry Storytelling: Capture, share, and highlight stories of faith, ministry impact, volunteer service, and community outreach to build meaningful connections through video and written content.
- Community Management: Monitor social media channels, respond to comments/messages, and foster online interaction.
- Analytics & Reporting: Track digital performance metrics to evaluate engagement and refine strategies and also provide quarterly activity reports to church leadership.
Qualifications & Skills
- Platform Expertise: Proficiency in social media platforms, graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite), and video editing software.
- Content Skills: Creativity and proficiency in photography, videography, and copywriting.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate the Gospel and the mission of the church in an engaging, concise way for digital audiences.
- Brand Alignment: Understanding of the United Methodist Church’s theology, structure, and mission, as well as St. James UMC's own vision and mission.
- Proactive & Organized: Strong organizational skills to manage a content calendar and meet deadlines, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects.
Typical Requirements:
- Experience with digital marketing, communication, or social media management.
- A portfolio or examples of previous social media work (graphic design, video editing).
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with church staff.
