Social Media Manager & Content Creator (Food Truck + Marketing Mentorship)

About Us

We are Totts (www.crispytotts.com), a brand-new food truck serving up the crispiest, most delicious loaded tater tots in Lexington. Founded by a retired corporate Senior Marketing Director, Totts combines a passion for incredible food with high-level brand strategy. We are getting ready to launch our truck across town—hitting local breweries, campus-adjacent events, and neighborhood pop-ups. While we know how to map out the business strategy and run the kitchen, we need a creative, digital-savvy student partner to be our boots-on-the-ground content creator.

The Role & Mentorship Opportunity

We are looking for an energetic, self-motivated part-time Social Media Manager and Content Creator to completely own our social channels.

This is a unique, resume-building opportunity. Because you will be working directly alongside a seasoned marketing veteran, you won't just be posting photos—you’ll gain firsthand experience in brand launching, target audience engagement, and localized campaign execution. It’s the perfect bridge between classroom theory and real-world executive mentorship, making it an ideal role for students majoring in Marketing, Integrated Strategic Communication (ISC), Digital Media, or Business.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

  • On-Site Content Creation: Swing by the truck a couple of times a week to shoot high-quality, engaging smartphone videos and photos (think cheese pulls, crispy crunches, behind-the-scenes prep, and customer energy).
  • Channel Management: Plan, schedule, and post content to our Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook accounts.
  • The "Where Are We?" Updates: Ensure our weekly schedule, locations, and hours are clearly and consistently updated across all platforms every single week so our fans always know where to find us.
  • Community Engagement: Spend 10–15 minutes a day responding to comments, answering DMs about our locations, and engaging with local Lexington foodies and partners.
  • Trend Spotting: Keep an eye out for fun audio trends, memes, or video formats that fit our fun, casual brand vibe.

What We’re Looking For (Qualifications)

  • A Native Content Creator: You know your way around TikTok, IG Reels, CapCut, and Canva. You understand what hooks a viewer in the first 3 seconds.
  • Reliable & Local: You must have your own smartphone with a high-quality camera and reliable transportation to meet the truck at various local spots around Lexington (e.g., the Distillery District, campus area, downtown).
  • Coachability & Ambition: You are eager to learn, open to feedback, and excited to absorb real-world marketing insights from a veteran director.
  • Self-Starter: While you will have strategic guidance, we want to give you creative freedom. You should feel comfortable working independently and bringing fresh ideas to the table.
