SUMMARY: To provide overall leadership and coordination of a comprehensive social services program for
the school district. Responsible for policy and protocol development, articulation of program alignment with
the strategic direction of the district, consultation, collaboration, and program development with internal and
external stakeholders.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: School Social Work Program and Homeless Case Manager

QUALIFICATIONS:
The incumbent must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function of the position. When

accordance with school system procedures.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Master’s degree from a Professional Standards Commission approved accredited college or university in
social work. Minimum five (5) years of experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, PERMITS:
Valid Professional Standards Commission approved certificate in appropriate educational field at level S-5 or
above required.

Essential Duties
Responsible for oversight of homeless children & youth services 
Responsible for oversight of school social work program and completing yearly

individual evaluations for school social workers
 Responsible for oversight of school based mental health services
 District point of contact for students in foster care and coordination of related

services 
District point of contact for Lead school counselors and works with all school

counselors in coordinating, researching and implementation of social and emotional
wellness services 

Coordinates the development and implementation of school and district level
crisis/care counseling teams

 Works with staff and students to facilitate a smooth transition of all wrap around
services within the school district

 Coordinates, conduct and/or assists with professional learning related to areas of
expertise (i.e. homeless, child abuse, mental health, attendance, etc.)

 Collaborates with community agencies and stakeholders to assist students and their
families with identified needs

 Serves as a liaison between the school district and various community agencies as it
relates to identified needs for students and their families. Serves on community
boards and committees related to student needs when appropriate.

 Recommends and/or establishes programs of a preventative nature for staff, students
and parents to meet social and emotional needs of the various groups

 Collaborates with Director of Safety and Security to integrate behavioral health
supports into school safety plans

procedures; program development and management; and parent’s rights and state guidelines

PERFORMANCE FACTORS:
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force
frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required

perception (three dimensional vision), accommodation (adjustment of lens to eye to bring an object into
sharp focus), field of vision (area that can be seen up and down or to the right or left while eyes are fixed on
a given point) and color vision (ability to distinguish and identify colors) are required factors.
Hearing: Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine
discrimination in sounds, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts with or without
correction.
Repetitive Motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

Interaction with Others: Ability to maintain, on a regular and consistent basis, relationships that are not
characterized by high levels of hostility, social withdrawal or failure to communicate. Ability to be flexible
relative to daily routines. Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to the differences among diverse populations.
Concentration: Ability to maintain workflow and thought processes in the presence of frequent
distractions. Ability to ignore irrelevant sights or sounds and intrusive thoughts or stimuli. Ability to
manage multiple tasks simultaneously with only few or no errors.

presented. Ability to adjust work processes without incident when new and unexpected directions are given
relative to a project that may be in process. Ability to maintain composure and not compound a situation
