Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Software Architect – Team Lead to own the technical architecture of our AI-powered healthcare diagnostics platform. The ideal candidate will lead a cross-functional engineering team, define technical standards, and ensure the scalability, security, and reliability of our platforms as we continue to expand partnerships with major healthcare systems and distribution networks.
This role requires deep expertise in cloud architecture, healthcare technology integrations, AI system deployment, and hands-on engineering leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Architecture & Platform Ownership
- Design, develop, and oversee the end-to-end system architecture for our AI-powered healthcare diagnostics platform and associated products.
- Ensure platform scalability, performance, high availability, and long-term maintainability.
- Define engineering best practices, coding standards, and architectural guidelines across the team.
- Drive modernization and continuous optimization of backend systems and cloud infrastructure.
Engineering Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and manage a cross-functional engineering team of Full Stack, DevOps, and QA Engineers.
- Conduct technical reviews, architecture discussions, and sprint planning sessions.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance engineering culture focused on quality and innovation.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and the ongoing technical development of team members.
AI & Data Infrastructure
- Drive technical decisions related to AI/ML model integration, data pipelines, processing workflows, and model deployment infrastructure.
- Collaborate with AI/ML teams to ensure seamless integration of diagnostic algorithms into production systems.
- Optimize infrastructure for the secure handling and processing of medical imaging and healthcare datasets.
Cloud & DevOps Strategy
- Architect and manage scalable, secure cloud infrastructure environments.
- Oversee CI/CD pipeline implementation and deployment strategies.
- Ensure system observability, monitoring, disaster recovery, and operational reliability.
- Work closely with DevOps teams to maintain operational excellence.
Healthcare Systems & Compliance
- Collaborate with Product and Clinical teams on EHR integration strategies for platforms including Epic, Athena, and other healthcare interoperability systems.
- Ensure full compliance with healthcare data security and privacy standards including HIPAA.
- Support FDA 510(k) documentation and technical regulatory requirements.
Research & Grants Support
- Contribute technical architecture and infrastructure content for grant submissions, investor documentation, and regulatory applications.
- Support product scalability planning and commercialization initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of software engineering experience.
- 3+ years in software architecture or technical leadership roles.
- Strong expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Proven experience designing scalable distributed systems and microservices architectures.
- Strong understanding of AI/ML deployment workflows and data pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD, and containerization technologies.
- Familiarity with healthcare integrations and interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7, DICOM).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in healthcare AI, medical imaging, or digital health platforms.
- Familiarity with FDA-regulated software development environments.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare data compliance standards.
- Experience with retinal imaging, diagnostics, or ophthalmology-related technology platforms.
- Previous experience supporting grant-funded or research-driven technology initiatives.
