Software Engineer

We’re hiring: Backend Software Engineer – Austin, TX – Hybrid ( note: this role is not available for c2c or sponsorship at this time)

Orama is partnering with a high-growth, Austin-based FinTech scale-up modernizing the debt-collection industry.

We’re working with a mission-driven business building the first end-to-end digital platform for compliant debt collection. With a $3.5M run-rate and strong momentum, they’re removing friction from payments, automating outreach, and redefining how regulated financial workflows should work, all with very little direct competition.

What you’ll do

• Take ownership of backend microservices supporting high-volume, high-reliability workloads

• Build and scale services in Go (or ramp into Go within your first 30–45 days if coming from Java or another C-family language, CTO will teach you)

• Design service boundaries and contribute to distributed system architecture decisions

• Partner closely with product and engineering to ship features end-to-end

• Contribute to performance tuning, observability, and infrastructure as the platform scales

What you’ll bring

• Experience in backend engineering, microservices, and SQL/PostgreSQL

• Ideally, you come from a previous startup and understand the landscape

• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, OOP design, and debugging complex systems

• Comfort owning production services and improving performance across the stack

• Curiosity, pragmatism, and a desire to grow in a fast-moving startup environment

• Bonus: exposure to Go, AWS, Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD, or observability tooling
