A Day in the Life of a Software Engineer

A Day in the Life of a Software Engineer is dynamic, collaborative, and focused on solving complex technology challenges. You'll work closely with internal teams and third-party organizations to implement seamless software integrations, ensuring our systems operate smoothly and efficiently. Your expertise will be central to developing high-quality, reliable code that meets technical requirements while adhering to secure coding standards, safeguarding the performance and integrity of our technology ecosystem.

Beyond coding, you'll design and execute detailed unit tests, document results, and maintain alignment with SDLC and Change Management procedures. You'll provide accurate project estimates, helping the team balance precision with efficiency to meet deadlines without compromising quality. More than a developer, you'll be a trusted collaborator, problem-solver, and strategic contributor, building robust solutions that drive our mission forward and position our software for future success.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with third-party organizations to implement and manage software integrations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day technology issues with existing programs
  • Design, develop, test, and debug applications while adhering to secure coding standards and SDLC/Change Management processes
  • Create unit test plans, perform testing, and document results
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and solutions
  • Provide accurate estimates and assist in planning and scheduling implementations with PM, Infrastructure, and Business teams
  • Participate in code reviews and guide external development partners
  • Work efficiently within the application development pipeline to deliver high-quality software solutions

Experience & Education:

  • 4+ years in web application design and development, including JavaScript and Web Services
  • Proficient with AngularJS, jQuery, JSON, HTML5, CSS3; mobile development for Windows, iOS, and Android
  • Experience with Business Intelligence/SQL Analysis Services and integrating third-party software
  • Finance reporting and/or Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains experience preferred
  • Degree or diploma in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
