As a Software Engineer on the Azure Resource Graph and Azure Resource Manager team, you will help build and scale services that enable customers to manage and query resources across Microsoft Azure. These mission-critical services power governance, compliance, and resource visibility for millions of users worldwide.
You’ll create extensible and maintainable code for backend systems, collaborating with stakeholders to define requirements and integrate feedback into future designs. You’ll contribute to testing plans and quality assurance, applying debugging tools, logs, and telemetry to proactively identify and resolve issues.
This role offers exposure to cloud computing, distributed systems, content management, and big data, with opportunities to work on large-scale, complex codebases. You’ll learn best practices for scalability, reliability, and compliance—ensuring solutions meet high standards for security, privacy, and performance.

Breaks down work items into actionable tasks in collaboration with stakeholders, provides estimations, and escalates delays when needed. Supports feature deployments across Azure Resource Graph and Azure Resource Manager services, ensuring safe deployment practices and minimal customer impact.
Partners with cross-functional teams to define feature requirements and integrate feedback into design iterations. Establishes feedback loops using customer metrics to drive continuous improvement in resource management and query capabilities.
Applies coding standards and best practices. Participates in code reviews and develops maintainable, extensible code with guidance from senior engineers.
Utilizes debugging tools, logs, and telemetry to proactively and reactively resolve issues in large-scale distributed systems. Contributes to performance tuning and reliability improvements for services handling massive resource datasets.
Supports documentation and dependency mapping for features, gaining exposure to system interactions and backend architecture. Contributes to architectural discussions and technical validation efforts, including hypothesis testing and automation integration.
Participates in live service operations and acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) to monitor and restore system functionality within SLA timelines. Integrates telemetry data to analyze system behavior with a focus on performance, reliability, and safety.
Develops and applies best practices for scalable, secure code. Understands global and local regulations, customer scaling requirements, and supports cross-team communication to enhance user experience and partner collaboration.
Ensures compliance with security, privacy, safety, and accessibility standards. Leverages developer tools and CI/CD systems for code creation, debugging, and automation in production and deployment workflows.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, and proven experience coding in C++, C#, Java, Rust, and/or any other object-oriented language,

OR equivalent experience.

Professional and/or academic experience with CI/CD systems, JIRA, and/or any cloud platform (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP).

Professional and/or academic experience with cloud computing, distributed systems, content management, big data, and/or large codebases.

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Software Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $84,200 - $165,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $109,000 - $180,400 per year.
