Job Summary
We are seeking a Backend Software Engineer to support a Google team building an AI-powered writing tool used for help center and internal content creation. This is a leave coverage role focused on feature development and rapid iteration within an established production system.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance backend features for an AI writing platform
• Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional partners
• Support rapid feature iterations based on user feedback
• Contribute to frontend tasks when required (limited scope)

Required Qualifications

• Strong experience with Kotlin (backend development)
• Working knowledge of Java
• Experience building features in production systems
• Ability to ramp up quickly in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to Python (future roadmap)
• Familiarity with AI / LLM-based systems (nice to have)
• Prior Google or large-scale tech environment experience
• Basic frontend exposure (Angular / JavaScript)

Additional Notes

• Backend-focused role (majority of work)
• No system design ownership required

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $86.00 - $100.00 per hour
