Brief Description

As a fast-growing real estate investment startup located in Long Island City, CrowdFunz, is looking for one responsible, motivated, and problem-solving oriented Data Engineer to join our team.

The company is currently run by a team of young professionals with industrial experience in real estate investment and the financial industry. Bilingual language capacity of English and Chinese is required for the application, and ideal applicants will have strong interests in back-end database developments and further fin-tech driven web applications supporting financial transactions and fund management.

As a start-up, CrowdFunz provides a task-based, result-driven, and human-oriented working environment and culture. The talent working in this position will have collaborative and effective communication with other team members in roles of real estate financing, due diligence, client management, and operations, knowing the small fund-raising sector in U.S. and New York real estate investments.

Basic Requirements

• Proven experience as a software developer with a strong focus on back-end development;
• Hands-on experience with back-end development and Python programming languages (experience with FastAPI is a plus);
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and functional code;
• Eagerness to learn about RESTful API design and integrate backend with frontend;
• Problem-solving mindset with attention to debugging and testing;
• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field;
• Working fluency in English and Chinese, with strong communication skills in both languages.

Other Requirements

• Strong fundamental about Computer Science would be a plus;
• Curiosity on the applications of financial technology is preferred, but not required;
• A candidate with GPA above 3.60 or a successful academic/career track record is prioritized.

Position Duties

• Collaborate with the development team to design and implement features for the company’s website;
• Develop and maintain backend APIs using FastAPI, ensuring scalability and performance;
• Write clear, maintainable, and well-documented code;
• Test and debug web applications to ensure reliability, functionality, and responsiveness;
• Contribute ideas to improve user experience, performance, and overall software quality;
• Follow best practices for version control, code reviews, and collaborative development.
