Software Quality Assurance Engineer

Onsite, 9-month temp. Software QA Engineer position with one of the world’s largest manufacturers of smart residential, commercial, and industrial solutions. As a Software QA Engineer, you will be responsible for the execution and maintenance of test plans to verify that product hardware and software functionality is performing according to specifications. You will also be responsible for clearly and concisely documenting any bugs discovered during testing as well as validation of any bug fixes performed by the engineering team. This is a hands-on test position that requires testing hardware and software. This is not a remote position.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Define, document, and execute functional tests for embedded software and hardware devices including Graphical User Interface based testing on product requirements and usage scenarios.
• Provide accurate and complete test results through a problem tracking application (Jira).
• Define and execute test regression plans for maintenance releases/patches/ECOs.
• Provide status reports to project and line management.
• Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, define problems, and working with larger team develop a means or method to resolve them.
• Understand, support, and execute all work according to the established procedures of the organization.
• Implements and maintains department policies and standards.
• Project based assignments as requested.

Qualifications:

• Coursework in Engineering, Computer Science, or related Technical Field.
• 2+ years of relevant working experience.
• Experience with Jira issue tracking software.
• Experience with any of the following: Windows, OSX, Linux.
• Experience with iOS and/or Android.
• Interest and experience in consumer electronics or similar field.

• Positive attitude, self-motivated and eager to succeed.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent logical, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
• Computer literacy required, including advanced skills in Microsoft applications (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
• Strong written communication and verbal skills.
• Proven ability to multi-task, set project priorities, establish department/discipline goals and objectives.
• Basic understanding of home networking such as; TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, Home routers.
• Familiarity with any of the following: smart devices such as home security systems, thermostats, IP Cameras (including ONVIF), DVR/NVR, Lighting/Home Wiring, IR systems, Z-Wave and iOT devices is a plus.
• Familiarity with DOS and Linux commands a plus
• Must be willing to work with test equipment in a lab environment in Carlsbad California

Compensation for roles at Suna Solutions varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific client, office or remote location, role, skill set and level of experience. As required by local law, Suna Solutions provides a reasonable pay scale to include the hourly or salary range that Suna Solutions reasonably expects to pay for roles that may be hired in California, Colorado, New York City or Washington as set forth below.
