Software Support Specialist

This position is for a Tennessee-based remote worker only.

Do you eat, sleep, and breathe Microsoft Access? Can you navigate a database, write a complex query, and troubleshoot a broken relationship without breaking a sweat? If you also know your way around QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online integrations and love helping customers solve real problems, we want to hear from you.

Furniture Wizard is a leading provider of inventory management and point-of-sale software built specifically for the furniture retail industry. We’ve been supporting independent retailers for over two decades with a platform they trust and a support team they love. We’re growing, and we need a technical powerhouse who can dig into data, bridge software systems, and make customers feel confident every step of the way.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide outstanding technical support to our retail customers via phone, email, and remote tools
  • Serve as the go-to expert for Microsoft Access — including complex queries, form and report troubleshooting, linked tables, and performance tuning
  • Integrate and troubleshoot QuickBooks integrations, including data sync between our platforms.
  • Work with REST APIs to diagnose integration issues, interpret responses, and help customers configure connections
  • Troubleshoot issues involving SQL Server, Android and iOS applications, and Windows environments
  • Collaborate with our development and support teams to resolve complex, multi-system issues
  • Document solutions, known issues, and best practices in our knowledge base
  • Proactively identify patterns in support requests and recommend lasting fixes

What You Must Have

  • Expert-level Microsoft Access skills — this is the core of the role. You should be comfortable with table design, queries (including complex joins, subqueries, and aggregates), VBA, linked tables, and diagnosing performance issues. If Access is not your strong suit, this is not the right role.
  • Hands-on QuickBooks experience — you’ve worked directly with connecting software to QuickBooks Desktop company files, understand how data syncs between systems, and can troubleshoot connection and data flow issues.
  • Experience with QuickBooks desktop.
  • Strong API troubleshooting skills — REST preferred; you’re comfortable reading API documentation, inspecting requests and responses, and helping customers resolve integration issues
  • Solid IT support background, particularly in small business environments
  • Excellent communication skills — you can translate technical problems into plain English without talking down to customers
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and able to manage your own workload remotely

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Experience with SQL Server (queries, troubleshooting, performance)
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale systems or retail operations
  • Knowledge of Windows Server or remote desktop environments
  • Experience supporting proprietary or legacy software
  • Understanding of small business accounting principles and how data flows between systems

Perks & Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Health insurance options
  • Work-from-home flexibility
  • Collaborative and supportive remote team culture
  • Opportunity to grow with a well-established company serving a niche industry

If you’re someone who genuinely loves digging into data problems, takes pride in getting things right, and wants to be a valued expert on a tight-knit team — we’d love to talk.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.50 - $31.25 per hour

Benefits:

  • 401(k)
  • Health insurance
  • Paid time off

Application Question(s):

  • In Microsoft Access, you have a customer that is believes a report is displaying incorrect information. Walk us through how you would figure out why and what you’d try first.
  • Our software connects directly to a customer’s QuickBooks Desktop company file. A customer says their data suddenly stopped syncing. What are the first things you’d check?
  • Imagine a non-technical furniture store owner asks why their data didn’t sync to QuickBooks. Write a short reply you’d actually send them explaining what happened and what to do next — assume the cause was that QuickBooks needs to be open and the integration re-authorized inside it.
