Job Description

The Solutions Engineer plays a critical role in bridging technology, product capabilities, and customer needs within PSD Citywide Enterprise solutions. This role partners with Sales, Implementation, and Customer Success to support clients through technical discovery, demos, and pre-sales support. The Solutions Engineer is a technical problem-solver who excels at explaining complex concepts to government stakeholders, gathering requirements, and ensuring our sales support aligns with the needs of public-sector organizations.


Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Partner with Sales to understand customer challenges, workflows, and system requirements.
  • Deliver compelling product demos tailored to municipal, state/provincial, and federal government use cases.
  • Translate technical product features into clear, value-driven benefits that resonate with public-sector audiences.
  • Bridge point between SMEs and Sales to translate expertise guidance on best-fit modules, integrations, and data flows to meet customer objectives.
  • Ability to understand and relay system configurations, integrations, and implementation approaches based on PSD standards.
  • Conduct technical assessments and map government workflows to platform capabilities.
  • Work closely with Product to relay customer feedback, feature requests, and market needs gathered from client meetings.
  • Support RFP responses by providing technical content review.
  • Prepare technical materials for evaluation committees, procurement reviews, and stakeholder presentations.
  • Ability to translate software enhancements, new features, documentation and updates to sales team members.
  • Provide internal enablement and training to Sales and Customer Success teams to increase product and technical knowledge.
  • Clearly articulate product limitations, technical constraints, and scalable solutions.
  • Travel: position requires travel to client locations within Canada and the United States; requiring a valid provincial license, Canadian passport and the ability to travel internationally.
  • Support webinar creation and delivery, software enhancements presentations, product town halls, and PSD user groups presentations.
  • Support new hire sales training, partnering with our corporate trainers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with interdisciplinary understanding of Business and Technology.
  • 5+ years in a Sales Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Product Engineer, or technical customer-facing role (SaaS preferred/GovTech).
  • Experience supporting government clients or working within the GovTech sector is a strong asset.
  • Strong understanding of SaaS architectures, APIs, integrations, data flows, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into clear business value for non-technical public-sector audiences.
  • Experience supporting RFPs, technical evaluations, or procurement processes.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct executive business reviews, identify adoption gaps, and support account expansion.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with evolving priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working through ambiguous or complex customer requirements.
  • High emotional intelligence, with the ability to manage client expectations and resolve escalated issues professionally.
  • Growth and entrepreneurial mindset, with a client-centric approach.
  • Ability to contribute to internal knowledge, thought leadership, and product feedback.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport for client travel. Ability to travel within a few weeks notice to support sales activities.

Offer/Feedback: The Hiring Team will debrief and make a decision within a few days of your final interview. If successful, your Recruiter will present you with a verbal offer, followed by a formal offer letter via email.
