About the Role

Govplace is seeking a Solution Engineer to join our team. We’re seeking an individual that is a self-starter with a drive and passion for and experience with technology, specifically in solution development of IT Modernization initiatives. The Successful candidate will have a broad knowledge of the platforms and software Enterprises need to run their business and will have the ability to identify opportunities to help our Government customers cost effectively optimize their IT infrastructure and return value to their customers.


This role supports the sales teams by:

Building and maintaining technical relationships with OEM’s, building lab and demo environments showcasing Govplace expertise and by developing solutions that solving some of the most complex IT challenges. Being the technical expert in providing thoughts, ideas, and solutions to help customers achieve their goals and needs. Our sales teams create close relationships with our customers and look to understand their challenges. Our sales engineering teams form a deep understanding of technology and the solutions they provide. The best candidates for this role can understand the patterns and anti-patterns of specific solutions to select the best option for a given set of constraints or goals. Strong communication skills are a must for this role, specifically the ability to take highly technical concepts and communicate them with a wide range of people of all technical skill levels. That ability to converse in a deep dive with another technology engineer all the way to simplifying concepts for a conversation with business executives. (Remote work is accepted for this position.)

The Successful candidate can demonstrate mastery in at least 1 technical area (Networking, Data Center, Cyber Security, Cloud, Storage) and has a strong understanding of other areas.


Demonstrated experience with multiple OEM’s (Cisco, HPE/Aruba, Juniper, Vast Data, Netapp, DDN, Palo Alto, Nutanix, etc.) typically represented by:


  • 5+ year’s relevant experience or course work in supporting, designing and/or implementing IT solutions to include physical, virtual, or cloud-based architectures.
  • Hold various, or willing to commit to expert level certifications (with Govplace support) within strategic technology areas or vendors.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of Federal experience

Work authorization/security clearance requirements

  • The ability to obtain a security clearance is required for this role.

Great to Have

  • Existing/valid professional or architect tier certification.
  • Existing or recent federal agency EOD or clearance.
  • Value added reseller (VAR) experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work in an office environment.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift, carry or move up to 15/20/30/50 pounds regularly/occasionally.

  • Build and maintain relationships with Security OEM’s.
  • Build and maintain a demonstration and lab environment to showcase key solutions.
  • Deliver demonstrations to customers.
  • Evangelize Govplace technologies internally and externally.
  • Providing POC/POV support, integrating solutions in customer environments.
  • Consult with Sales, Sales Engineering and project Management on delivery of solutions.
  • Provide service delivery functions, deploying solutions.
  • Support the sales teams by providing and documenting thoughts, ideas, and solutions which will best serve the customer’s goals and needs.
  • Create documentation to support sales activity such as questions and responses to RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, architectural diagrams, solutions requirements, and quoting documentation.
  • Identify sales opportunities with customers.
  • Communicate with the sales teams, vendors, partners, and customers.
  • Obtain and retain certifications based on Govplace strategic needs.
  • Ability to travel for customer engagements, >20% travel
  • Ability to travel for internal events and conferences, typically once a quarter.
  • Proactively self-assess efficiency and accuracy of work being performed and recommend modifications to systems and procedures to achieve continuous improvement.
  • Assist with marketing through creation of blogs, white papers, recordings and other media.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
