Job Description
Job Summary:
The Sourcing Manager leads the sourcing team while maintaining direct responsibility for strategic sourcing initiatives in the Heavy Haul transportation space. This role combines leadership and hands-on execution, ensuring the team delivers competitive proposals, strong supplier performance, and operational readiness for complex projects. Acting as a key liaison between Business Development, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, the Sourcing Manager drives sourcing strategies, optimizes cost efficiency, and fosters long-term supplier relationships to support organizational growth.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Development:

Manage and mentor the sourcing team, providing guidance on best practices, RFQ processes, and supplier negotiations.

Set team goals, monitor performance, and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.

Develop training programs and share industry insights to strengthen team capabilities.
Project Sourcing:
-
Serve as the subject matter expert and lead for Heavy Haul sourcing projects.

Capable of leading RFQ’s focusing primarily on Heavy Haul transport bids.

Oversee RFQ processes ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.

Collaborate with Business Development and customers to clarify project requirements.

Formulate sourcing strategies using Operations and Sales input, historical data, and supplier insights.

Analyze pricing and service proposals, present recommendations to stakeholders.

Prepare proposal documentation for customer review
Supplier Relationship Management:

Build and maintain strong strategic relationships with suppliers.

Oversee supplier onboarding and qualification processes.

Provide performance feedback and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Attend industry events to expand supplier base and stay informed on market trends.
RFQs/proposals for operational activities upon project award:

Notify suppliers of contract awards

Confirm Supplier award and best and final pricing

Support sourcing activities for scope changes

Engage in project closeout and internal reviews
Project Transition and Handoff:

Lead internal project handoff call with project management, safety, and the internal technical team.

Lead project financial handoff call with project management and finance team.

Participate in internal and external project kick off calls with project managers, suppliers, and customers.

Participate in any sourcing activities needed for changes of scope.

Participate in project close out with internal team.

Manage the supplier contracting process for won bids.
Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s or equivalent college degree – focus in supply chain preferred.

10+ years of experience in logistics sourcing or project management related field desired.

Project experience in sourcing, procurement, management, finance, or sales capacity desired.

Professional experience in supplier management, contract negotiation, RFQ process, or finance desired.

Ability to multitask, prioritize and be flexible.
