Sous Chef – Catering Company
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and reliable Sous Chef to support our culinary operations across full-service catering events. You’ll work closely with the Executive Chef to plan, prep, and execute menus for large-scale events, corporate functions, weddings, and private catering. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a passion for creating memorable food experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Executive Chef in planning and executing event menus
- Supervise kitchen staff in both prep and on-site production
- Ensure consistency of dishes during high-volume service
- Manage prep schedules, event timelines, and plating logistics
- Maintain inventory, place orders, and track food costs
- Oversee food safety standards in the production kitchen and off-site locations
- Coordinate with the event team to deliver seamless service
- Train, motivate, and support kitchen staff
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef (catering experience strongly preferred)
- Ability to manage multiple event menus and timelines
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Strong knowledge of food prep, tasting standards, and presentation
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, event-driven environment
- Valid food safety certification preferred
- Ability to lift, transport, and set up equipment during events
