Job Summary

The Sous Chef is the second-in-command in the kitchen, responsible for supporting the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations, supervising staff, and ensuring consistent food quality. This role requires strong leadership, organization, and culinary expertise in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef in planning menus, recipes, and food presentation
  • Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff, including Commis Chefs and Chef de Partie
  • Ensure all dishes are prepared and served according to quality standards
  • Monitor portion control, waste management, and cost efficiency
  • Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and compliance with UAE food safety regulations (HACCP)
  • Oversee stock levels, ordering, and inventory management
  • Train, mentor, and develop kitchen team members
  • Step in to lead the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef
  • Ensure smooth kitchen operations during busy service periods
  • Handle customer feedback related to food quality when needed

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Culinary Arts or Hospitality Management
  • Minimum 3–5 years of kitchen experience, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role
  • Strong knowledge of international and/or specialty cuisine
  • Experience in high-volume or fast-paced kitchens (restaurants, cafés, hotels)
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations in the UAE
  • Leadership and team management skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED4,000.00 - AED4,500.00 per month
