Sous Chef @Casual Dining

We are currently hiring for the Sous Chef role for the Casual Dining concepts.

Cuisine: International Café Cuisine

Job Summary

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations for a high-quality casual dining café specializing in international cuisine. The ideal candidate should have strong café experience, an eye for presentation, consistency, and the ability to lead kitchen teams in a fast-paced environment while maintaining premium food standards.

Key Responsibilities

Kitchen Operations & Food Quality

  • Assist the Head Chef in day-to-day kitchen operations and food production
  • Ensure consistent preparation, taste, and presentation of all menu items
  • Oversee café-style menus including breakfast items, all-day dining, salads, sandwiches, pasta, grills, desserts, and baked items
  • Ensure all dishes meet brand standards similar to premium café concepts.

Team Supervision & Training

  • Supervise and guide kitchen staff during shifts
  • Train team members on recipes, plating standards, portion control, and hygiene
  • Support staff scheduling and efficient task delegation
  • Motivate the team to maintain high performance and teamwork

Food Safety & Hygiene

  • Ensure compliance with HACCP, food safety, and hygiene standards at all times
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and storage areas
  • Monitor proper food handling, storage, labeling, and temperature control

Inventory & Cost Control

  • Assist in ordering, receiving, and checking quality of ingredients
  • Monitor stock levels and minimize wastage
  • Support food cost control, portion accuracy, and yield management

Menu Development & Innovation

  • Support the Head Chef in menu development and seasonal specials
  • Suggest new café-style dishes, presentations, and international flavors
  • Adapt recipes based on customer feedback and operational needs

Operational Support

  • Take full responsibility for kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef
  • Coordinate with front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service
  • Handle guest feedback professionally and promptly when required

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie in a casual dining café or international café concept
  • Strong experience in international café cuisine and modern casual dining menus
  • Knowledge of breakfast, all-day dining, desserts, and plated café dishes
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Good knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards
  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in premium café brands or upscale casual dining concepts
  • Strong plating and presentation skills
  • Hands-on, proactive, and detail-oriented approach
  • Ability to train and develop junior kitchen staff
