Primary Responsibilities
Guest Experience & Service Delivery
- Provide professional massage services including Swedish, Deep Tissue, Aromatherapy, Sports Massage, and Reflexology
- Perform body treatments such as scrubs, wraps, and hydrotherapy services in accordance with spa protocols
- Customize each service based on guest needs, preferences, and contraindications
- Deliver a consistent, elevated guest experience aligned with The Sanderling brand
- Maintain a calm, attentive, and professional demeanor at all times
- Educate guests on treatment benefits and recommend appropriate services and retail products
- Maintain strong knowledge of all back bar products, including ingredients, benefits, explain product ingredients and their effects
- Recommend retail products based on guest needs, concerns, and services received
Treatment Standards & Protocol Adherence
- Perform all services according to established spa protocols and timing standards
- Begin and end all services on time
- Understand contraindications and apply universal precautions when delivering services
- Arrive 30 minutes prior to scheduled shift to prepare treatment rooms and supplies
- Complete all assigned side work, including laundry, stocking, and spa maintenance tasks
- Maintain a positive, professional attitude and contribute to a supportive team environment
- Work a consistent, assigned schedule based on business needs
- Attend all required trainings, meetings, and protocol refreshers
- Report any guest concerns, incidents, or operational issues to Spa Leadership immediately
Secondary Responsibilities
- Assist with spa setup and breakdown for events, group bookings, and seasonal demands
- Support inventory organization and restocking efforts
- Participate in ongoing education and skill development
- Perform additional duties as assigned by Spa Director or Supervisor
Qualifications
Required
- Active North Carolina Massage Therapy License (in good standing)
- Certification from an accredited Massage Therapy program
- Previous professional massage therapy experience
- Ability to perform Deep Tissue massage and full-body treatments
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and guest service skills
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and guest-focused in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
- Experience in a luxury resort or hotel spa environment
- Experience with body treatments (scrubs, wraps, hydrotherapy)
- Reflexology certification or experience
- Dual licensure (Esthetics or Cosmetology) is a plus, but not required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform massage services for extended periods (6–8+ hours per shift)
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 lbs
- Physical stamina to meet the demands of a high-volume spa environment
Seasonal Employment Expectations (Peak Season: June – October)
- Availability for full-time, 8+ hour shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Flexibility to work increased hours based on resort occupancy and demand
- Commitment to maintaining service standards during high-volume periods
- Strong teamwork and adaptability to support seasonal operations
