Planning, Design, and Construction - Division of Finance and Administration
The Space Planner reports to the Space Manager and supports Planning, Design, and Construction (PDC) at the University of Missouri–Kansas City (UMKC). This role collaborates with all campus units through the annual space survey to maintain accurate space data and reporting. The office of Space Management provides and maintains a reliable set of campus floor plans, space inventory data, and campus maps for all campus-owned and leased facilities. Space Management also recommends and coordinates with the Provost and Chancellor’s Office for space assignments and reassignments, with the Space Planner providing data, analysis, and documentation under the direction of the Space Manager. Space Management supports campus planning and facilities operations through the annual space utilization inventory and campus space survey. It also maintains the building and infrastructure database, manages building document archives, and advances GIS and mapping initiatives, including updates to the official UMKC campus map.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Advanced proficiency in updating GIS data to campus facilities, utilities or grounds, including spatial data management, mapping, analysis, and reporting. Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD or comparable computer-aided design software, along with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with advanced proficiency in Excel required. Familiarity with the Americans with Disabilities Act Standards for Accessible Design and the International Building Code. Demonstrated project management, organizational, and communication skills to effectively coordinate data, projects, and stakeholders.
The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $53,000 to $75,000 annually.
Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
