South Campus, a leader in the provision of special education services in Palatine, Illinois, is hiring energetic and motivated Special Education Teachers to lead our therapeutic day school classrooms. We serve children ages 6-21 years, with Special Education Eligibility primarily under categories of emotional, behavioral, and developmental disabilities (e.g. Autism Spectrum Disorder).

Our unique school utilizes educational, therapeutic, family and community connections to promote academic achievement and personal/emotional growth. Our staff is fully committed to helping each student make progress and develop the skills necessary to succeed at their public school and in their adult life. With a small student:staff ratio, we are able to meet the needs of our students to see tremendous change and growth. Our organization is seeking candidates with a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education who have an LBS1 endorsement and an Illinois State Licensure. Special Knowledge/ Skills:

  • Knowledge of special education policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of state and federal guidelines for the educational requirements for students with special needs
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate with a multi-faceted group of professionals
  • Ability to motivate students and get them excited about learning
  • Writing Individualized Education Plans (IEP)

*Duties of a Special Education Teacher at South Campus include, but are not limited to:

  • Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning
  • IEP development, data collection, and maintenance
  • Individualized and small group lesson planning
  • Effective communication/collaboration with school districts, parents, and families
  • Classroom teaching differentiation and intervention for academic and/or social-emotional needs
  • Classroom behavior management with the help of the restorative department and program/classroom aid
  • Technology integration in the classroom for education purposes
  • Teamwork and collaboration with a multidisciplinary staff consisting of teacher, program aids, restorative department, therapists, psychiatrists, etc.
  • Maintain positive leadership and role modeling to staff and students
  • Participate and contribute to staff development activities and all-staff meetings
  • Initiate and/or participate in problem-solving difficult situations involving students and/or faculty

Pay: $60,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
