Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs. This role involves developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), adapting curriculum, and utilizing various teaching strategies to support the academic and social development of students with disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Utilize effective classroom management techniques to create a positive learning environment.
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional materials to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and specialists to ensure comprehensive support for each student.
  • Conduct assessments and standardized testing to monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Provide speech therapy, behavioral therapy, and early intervention services as needed.
  • Foster communication skills through literacy education, math instruction, and physical education activities.
  • Support students with autism, developmental disabilities, and other special needs through tailored lesson planning and behavior management strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, IEP goals, and classroom activities.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching practices and stay current with educational trends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • State certification in Special Education is required.
  • Experience working with children in a classroom setting is essential; preschool experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of childhood development, behavior management, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with learning technology and its application in special education settings.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development techniques for students with disabilities, including Montessori methods if applicable.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams including parents, educators, and support staff.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in lesson planning and IEP documentation.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour
