EMIT Learning is seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher to work on our school campus in Byfield, MA, for the upcoming 2025-26 school year.

Position Details:
Job Title: Special Education Teacher
Location: Byfield, MA
Job Type: Full-Time | Onsite
Start Date: ASAP
End Date: June 2026 (with strong potential for renewal for the 2026–27 school year)
Schedule: Monday – Friday | Standard School Hours
Hourly Rate: $35 – $50/hour (based on experience and qualifications)
Credential Required: Ma Sped Certification

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with parents, therapists, and other professionals
  • Create engaging lesson plans that incorporate literacy education, math, physical education, and other core subjects tailored to students’ developmental levels
  • Manage classroom behavior using positive behavior management techniques and behavioral therapy strategies
  • Utilize learning technology and adaptive tools to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes
  • Conduct assessments using standardized testing methods to monitor progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Provide speech therapy support or coordinate with speech-language pathologists as needed
  • Support early intervention efforts for toddlers and preschool-aged children to promote developmental milestones
  • Adapt curriculum for students with autism, hearing impairments (deaf education), or other disabilities
  • Foster a safe, inclusive environment that promotes child welfare and emotional security
  • Collaborate with parents and caregivers to support ongoing development at home and in the classroom
  • Maintain detailed documentation of student progress, IEP goals, and behavioral data

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • Valid teaching certification/license in special education or relevant area
  • Experience working with children with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder, hearing impairments, or developmental delays
  • Strong classroom management skills and experience developing individualized lesson plans
  • Knowledge of speech therapy techniques, behavioral health strategies, and early childhood development principles
  • Familiarity with learning technology tools and adaptive educational resources
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience working in preschool settings or private schools is advantageous
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations including toddlers, preschoolers, and school-aged children in various educational environments
