EMIT Learning is seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher to work on our school campus in Byfield, MA, for the upcoming 2025-26 school year.

End Date: June 2026 (with strong potential for renewal for the 2026–27 school year)
Schedule: Monday – Friday | Standard School Hours
Hourly Rate: $35 – $50/hour (based on experience and qualifications)
Credential Required: Ma Sped Certification
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with parents, therapists, and other professionals
- Create engaging lesson plans that incorporate literacy education, math, physical education, and other core subjects tailored to students’ developmental levels
- Manage classroom behavior using positive behavior management techniques and behavioral therapy strategies
- Utilize learning technology and adaptive tools to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes
- Conduct assessments using standardized testing methods to monitor progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Provide speech therapy support or coordinate with speech-language pathologists as needed
- Support early intervention efforts for toddlers and preschool-aged children to promote developmental milestones
- Adapt curriculum for students with autism, hearing impairments (deaf education), or other disabilities
- Foster a safe, inclusive environment that promotes child welfare and emotional security
- Collaborate with parents and caregivers to support ongoing development at home and in the classroom
- Maintain detailed documentation of student progress, IEP goals, and behavioral data
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
- Valid teaching certification/license in special education or relevant area
- Experience working with children with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder, hearing impairments, or developmental delays
- Strong classroom management skills and experience developing individualized lesson plans
- Knowledge of speech therapy techniques, behavioral health strategies, and early childhood development principles
- Familiarity with learning technology tools and adaptive educational resources
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Experience working in preschool settings or private schools is advantageous
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations including toddlers, preschoolers, and school-aged children in various educational environments
