Job Overview
EMIT Learning is seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher to work on our school campus in Ludlow, MA, for the upcoming 2025-26 school year.

Position Details:
Job Title: Special Education Teacher
Location: Ludlow, MA
Job Type: Full-Time | Onsite
Start Date: ASAP
End Date: June 2026 (with strong potential for renewal for the 2026–27 school year)
Schedule: Monday – Friday | Standard School Hours
Hourly Rate: $35 – $50/hour (based on experience and qualifications)
Credential Required: Ma Sped Certification

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute individualized lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards and student IEPs
  • Manage classroom behavior to create a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment
  • Collaborate with speech therapists, behavioral therapists, and other specialists to support student development
  • Utilize learning technology and adaptive tools to enhance instructional effectiveness
  • Conduct assessments using standardized testing to monitor progress and inform instruction
  • Implement early intervention strategies for young children and toddlers requiring specialized support
  • Adapt teaching methods for students with autism, hearing impairments (deaf education), or other disabilities
  • Plan activities that promote literacy education, math skills, physical education, and overall childhood development
  • Maintain detailed records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents and caregivers
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education and behavioral health

Skills

  • Strong classroom management skills with the ability to maintain a positive learning environment
  • Experience working with children with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder and developmental delays
  • Proficiency in curriculum development tailored to individual student needs across various subjects such as literacy, math, and physical education
  • Knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and compliance standards
  • Familiarity with behavioral management techniques and behavioral therapy approaches
  • Ability to utilize learning technology effectively within the classroom setting
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with colleagues, parents, and external specialists
  • Experience in early childhood education or preschool settings is preferred
  • Compassionate approach towards child welfare and daycare practices
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies for diverse learners in private school or Montessori environments is a plus
