Job Summary
As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational journey of students with diverse learning needs. Your expertise will empower students to thrive academically and socially, fostering an inclusive environment where every child can reach their full potential. You will collaborate with families, educators, and specialists to develop tailored educational plans that meet individual needs while promoting growth and independence.

What you’ll do

  • Design and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the unique learning styles of students with disabilities.
  • Manage classroom dynamics effectively, ensuring a positive and supportive atmosphere for all learners.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that align with each student's goals.
  • Utilize learning technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance student engagement and understanding.
  • Provide targeted support in areas such as literacy education, math, and behavioral health to promote academic success.
  • Conduct assessments and standardized testing to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
  • Foster communication skills through speech therapy techniques and encourage social interactions among peers.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with best practices in special education.

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven experience working with students with disabilities, including autism and developmental disabilities.
  • Strong background in classroom management, lesson planning, and curriculum development tailored for special education settings.
  • Familiarity with early intervention strategies and childhood development principles.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with parents, staff, and external professionals.
  • Experience in behavioral therapy techniques and behavior management strategies is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Montessori methods or private school experience is a plus.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $55.00 - $60.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
