Variety Child Learning Center (VCLC) is a private, not-for-profit 4410 organization dedicated to supporting young children with special needs and their families.

Position Summary

VCLC is seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will deliver individualized instruction aligned with each student’s IEP, promote social-emotional and academic development, and provide leadership and mentorship to classroom staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement specialized instruction and lesson plans aligned with students’ IEP goals.
  • Review and maintain IEP compliance and ensure all staff understand individual goals.
  • Utilize research-based strategies and positive behavior supports (such as the Pyramid Model) to foster engagement and social-emotional growth.
  • Create and maintain an inclusive, well-managed classroom environment.
  • Collect and analyze data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Mentor and supervise classroom staff, including teacher assistants and interns.
  • Prepare quarterly progress reports and annual reviews in accordance with timelines.
  • Collaborate with team members and families to support transitions between CPSE and CSE systems.
  • Participate in required trainings, staff meetings, and professional development sessions.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree required, master’s degree preferred
  • Certification: New York State Students with Disabilities (Birth–Grade 2) Initial or All Grades
  • Experience:
  • Experience with young children in special education settings preferred.
  • ABA experience a plus (training provided).

Work Schedule

  • Full-time, Monday–Friday 8:00am–3:30pm.
  • 12-month school calendar.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
