Provide students receiving Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) services with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Develop or modify curricula and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to match student ability levels. Work in self-contained, team, departmental, or itinerant capacity as assigned.
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements or related certification
Early Childhood or Pre-K certification preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of special needs of students with disabilities
Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) process and ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the requirements of the district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation.
Adapt and modify lessons to meet the individual needs of students receiving ECSE services.
Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal methods.
Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and parents to support student progress.
Participate in ARD meetings, providing relevant data and recommendations.
Create a positive and supportive learning environment for young learners with diverse needs.
Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to district policies and IEP requirements.
Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development as assigned.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress; frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing; move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
- Salary is commensurate with experience
- Minimum Salary $66,000
- Please note that this role requires in-person attendance and is not eligible for remote work.
