We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher (ESN) to join our campus. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs. This role requires expertise in developing individualized education plans (IEPs), implementing tailored instructional strategies, and collaborating with families and support staff to ensure the academic and social success of students with disabilities.
Duties
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
- Design and adapt curriculum to meet the unique learning styles and abilities of each student.
- Utilize effective classroom management techniques to maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
- Provide instruction in literacy, math, and other subjects while incorporating specialized teaching methods such as behavioral therapy and early intervention strategies.
- Collaborate with speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other professionals to support student development.
- Conduct assessments, including standardized testing, to monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Engage in lesson planning that aligns with state standards while addressing the specific needs of students with disabilities.
- Foster strong communication skills by mentoring students in social interactions and self-advocacy.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, behavior, and progress toward IEP goals.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills in special education practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; certification in special education is preferred.
- Experience working with children with disabilities, including autism, developmental disabilities, or other special needs.
- Strong understanding of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices.
- Proficiency in curriculum development, lesson planning, and classroom management techniques.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with students, families, and colleagues.
- Experience in tutoring or mentoring students is a plus.
- Familiarity with various educational approaches such as Montessori or library services is beneficial.
- Knowledge of behavioral health strategies and behavior management techniques is desirable.
