Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment that supports students with diverse needs, including those with developmental disabilities, autism, and other special needs. This role involves developing tailored curricula, implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), and collaborating with families and support staff to promote student success. Experience in early childhood education, classroom management, and behavioral health is highly valued. Responsibilities

  • Design and implement individualized lesson plans aligned with IEP goals, focusing on literacy, math, communication skills, and behavioral management
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the unique learning styles of students with disabilities, including autism and developmental delays
  • Conduct assessments and utilize standardized testing to monitor student progress and inform instruction
  • Collaborate with speech therapists, behavioral therapists, and other specialists to support comprehensive student development
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a safe and productive learning environment
  • Provide tutoring and mentoring to enhance academic achievement and social skills
  • Develop curriculum materials suitable for various educational settings such as Montessori or preschool environments
  • Maintain detailed documentation of student progress and communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding their child's development
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and curriculum planning activities to stay current with best practices in special education

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of special education principles, including curriculum development, classroom management, and behavior management techniques
  • Experience working with children with autism, disabilities, or in early intervention programs
  • Proficiency in creating IEPs and conducting assessments aligned with educational standards
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with students, parents, colleagues, and external specialists
  • Ability to adapt instructional strategies for diverse learners using evidence-based practices such as behavioral therapy and literacy education
  • Familiarity with standardized testing procedures and tutoring methods for children of various age groups
  • Experience in early childhood education settings such as preschool or private schools; Montessori experience is a plus
  • Compassionate approach toward working with children requiring childcare support or mental health interventions
  • Proven classroom experience demonstrating effective teaching methods across multiple subjects including math and library services

This position is ideal for educators passionate about supporting children’s growth through innovative teaching methods tailored to individual needs. Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
