Role Overview

As a Special Education Tutor, you will provide personalized instruction and academic support to K–12 students with diverse learning needs, including ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), dyslexia, executive functioning challenges, processing disorders, and other learning differences. You will support students in core subjects such as Math, English, and Science while aligning instruction with IEP goals, 504 Plans, and individualized learning strategies.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions in-person or online
• Develop lesson plans tailored to each student’s academic level and learning needs
• Implement accommodations and modifications aligned with IEP or 504 goals
• Break down complex concepts into structured, manageable steps
• Track student progress and submit brief post-lesson reports
• Collaborate with parents and families to support academic and behavioral goals
• Maintain a patient, structured, and encouraging learning environment
• Session lengths: Minimum 30 minutes; negotiable based on student and tutor availability

What We’re Looking For

Required:

• Must pass a background check
• Experience working with students with special needs or learning differences
• Strong proficiency in at least one K–12 academic subject
• Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt teaching methods
• Excellent communication skills (written & verbal)
• Passion for inclusive education and supporting diverse learners
• Reliable internet, a computer with a webcam, and a quiet workspace for online sessions

Preferred:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education, Education, Psychology, or a related field
• 1+ years experience in special education or inclusive classroom settings
• Familiarity with IEP implementation and Common Core/California curriculum
• Experience with executive functioning support and behavioral strategies
• Advanced subject knowledge (e.g., Algebra, Calculus, AP courses, etc.)
• Bilingual abilities (Spanish, Mandarin, Korean, Vietnamese, etc.)
