The Critical Care Specialist (Intensivist) is responsible for managing critically ill patients in the ICU and other high-dependency areas. The role involves advanced clinical decision-making, life support management, and coordination of multidisciplinary care to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive care to patients with life-threatening conditions in the ICU and critical care units.

Perform advanced diagnostic evaluations and therapeutic interventions for patients requiring intensive monitoring and life support.

Manage ventilator support, hemodynamic monitoring, sedation, and nutritional needs of critically ill patients.

Lead and coordinate resuscitation and emergency response efforts, including CPR and code blue situations.

Collaborate with consultants, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing teams to ensure integrated patient care.

Participate in daily ICU rounds, case discussions, and multidisciplinary team meetings.

Ensure accurate documentation of patient progress, procedures, and clinical decisions in line with UAE healthcare regulations.

Implement and adhere to ICU protocols, infection control standards, and safety policies.

Guide, mentor, and train junior doctors, ICU nurses, and allied health professionals.

Engage in continuous medical education (CME) and stay updated on evidence-based critical care practices.
Qualifications

Education:
MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized university.

Specialization:
MD / DM / Fellowship / Board Certification in Critical Care Medicine, Anesthesiology, Internal Medicine, or Pulmonology with ICU training.

Experience:
Minimum 3–5 years post-specialization ICU experience (UAE/GCC experience preferred).
