Specialist – Data Science (CBUAE Anti-Fraud Operations Center)

The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) is the supervisory and regulatory authority of the banking and insurance sector in the United Arab Emirates. CBUAE is responsible for enhancing monetary management, financial stability and protecting consumers through effective supervision of licensed financial institutions, prudent management of reserves, robust financial infrastructure and the adoption of digital technologies.

We are seeking a Specialist – Data Science for our Industry Fraud Prevention department. The professional will be part of the newly established CBUAE Anti-Fraud Operations Center (CAFOC) and will be developing and refining machine learning models for fraud detection, applying advanced analytics and AI techniques to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of fraud detection systems; and supporting CAFOC in leveraging cutting-edge data science for financial crime prevention.

Core Responsibilities

• Build and maintain machine learning models for fraud risk scoring.
• Collect, clean, and prepare large datasets for model development.
• Research and test innovative AI/ML techniques relevant to fraud detection.
• Collaborate with data analysts and case managers to operationalise models.
• Continuously monitor and improve model performance based on emerging fraud patterns.

Qualifications and Experience

• Master’s degree in Data Science, AI, Computer Science, or related field.
• Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience of data science experience, with proven exposure to fraud detection or financial risk management.
• Flexibility, commitment and results-orientation.
• Strong writing and communication skills in both Arabic and English.
