Specialty Clinic Nurse (RN/LPN)

Non-exempt, FT day position

General Summary:

Responsible for the overall care of patients seeking service in the Specialty Clinic, Treatment Room, Telehealth, and Mobile Diagnostics which include echocardiograms and vascular studies. Ensures patient comfort before, during and after medical appointments and procedures with visiting providers. Provides direct patient care and is responsible for acting as a liaison between patient and provider, ensuring a seamless transition from diagnosis to treatment. Coordinates patient flow for the visiting provider through telephone response, exam and procedure assistance, and patient education. Administers treatments ordered by the medial practitioner, monitors and records results for physicians. Coordinates services with lab and other departments participating in the care of patients.


Essential Functions:

  • Attention to Detail
    • Inputs charges.
    • Prepares the exam area for patients by keeping rooms cleaned, stocked, and ready for use at all times.
    • Files and assists with medical records management.
    • Schedules appointments and tests as ordered by the provider.
    • Administers ordered medications, treatments and completes documentation.
    • Assesses and records patients' vital signs, such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration and pain level.
    • Collects ordered specimens, such as blood and urine from patients, and forwards to the laboratory.
    • Assesses inventory periodically and requisitions appropriate supplies and instruments.

    • Documentation meets current standards and polices and is completed within the shift.

    • When requested, assists in the orientation of RNs, LPNs, nurse aides and ward clerks.
    • Collaborates and coordinates with the information technology department to provide telehealth services.

    • Prepares patients for examinations, tests, or treatments and explains procedures.

    • Provides appropriate medical records for visiting specialists.
    • Prepares supplies and assembles equipment for the provider.
    • Checks medications and supplies for expiration dates and removes expired inventory from use.

    • Educates patients in the self-administration of treatments, and how to quickly recognize and respond to symptoms of adverse physical reactions to treatments.

    • Collaborates and confers with other healthcare providers regarding patient status and treatment needs.

Education and Experience:

Current Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse licensure in the State of Nebraska required

Regulatory Requirements:

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) validation required.
