Specification Engineer – Acoustics

Job Summary

The Specification Engineer – Acoustics supports the promotion and technical specification of acoustic products and solutions within architectural and building projects. The role works closely with architects, consultants, contractors, and internal sales teams to ensure acoustic systems are correctly specified, compliant with standards, and optimized for performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and acoustic expertise to architects, acoustic consultants, engineers, and designers
  • Promote and secure product specifications for commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects
  • Assist our team and advise client with acoustic calculations, performance modeling, and system selection (e.g., NRC, STC, RW, RT)
  • Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents to ensure correct acoustic application
  • Prepare technical documentation, datasheets, acoustic reports, and specification clauses
  • Deliver product presentations, CPDs, and technical training sessions
  • Support project tracking from early design through construction and handover
  • Collaborate with sales, product management, and engineering teams on project requirements
  • Respond to technical queries and resolve specification-related issues on projects
  • Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, acoustic standards, and regulations

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Acoustical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or related field
  • 2–5+ years’ experience in acoustics, building materials, or technical specification roles
  • Strong understanding of architectural acoustics and sound control principles
  • Familiarity with acoustic standards (ISO, ASTM, EN, BS, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings
  • Excellent technical communication and presentation skills
  • Strong relationship-building and consultative selling skills
  • Proficient in MS Office; experience with acoustic software is a plus

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working with acoustic panels, insulation, ceilings, wall systems, or building envelopes
  • Background in construction, architectural products, or building systems
  • Experience delivering CPDs or technical seminars
