Summary
Vetek Labs is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Veterinary Diagnostic Lab Technician & Courier to support both laboratory operations and local specimen transport in Scottsdale, Arizona. This is an onsite role that combines hands-on diagnostic testing with local pick-up and delivery responsibilities. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a laboratory environment, interacting professionally with veterinary clients, and traveling locally as needed during the workday.
Position Overview
This position combines two core functions: veterinary diagnostic laboratory support and local courier service. The employee will work onsite in the Vetek Labs facility and will also travel locally to pick up and deliver specimens, records, and supplies for veterinary clients. This is not a remote or work-from-home role.
The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, detail-oriented, and able to manage both technical lab work and route-based responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Laboratory Duties
- Perform routine veterinary diagnostic testing, including hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, parasitology, serology, and related laboratory procedures.
- Operate, monitor, and maintain laboratory analyzers and equipment according to established procedures.
- Prepare, label, process, and route biological samples appropriately for testing.
- Receive and accession specimens accurately into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Perform manual blood smear reviews and cell differentials as needed.
- Follow quality control procedures and assist with instrument checks, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and supply inventory.
Courier Duties
- Safely transport laboratory specimens, medical records, and supplies between Vetek Labs and veterinary clinics in Scottsdale and surrounding areas.
- Maintain specimen integrity and chain of custody during pick-up, transport, and delivery.
- Use company systems, online tools, or mobile applications to document pick-ups, deliveries, and specimen status accurately.
- Follow assigned schedules and adjust to daily operational needs as required.
- Maintain the cleanliness and basic readiness of the assigned vehicle.
Client Service and Compliance
- Serve as a professional point of contact for veterinary clients during pick-up and delivery interactions.
- Communicate clearly and courteously regarding logistics, specimen handling, and routine service questions.
- Follow all company policies, laboratory procedures, safety standards, and transportation protocols.
- Support daily operations as needed across both laboratory and courier responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology, Biological Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 years of hands-on experience in a veterinary diagnostic laboratory or similar laboratory environment.
- Experience performing diagnostic testing in hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, parasitology, and serology.
- Experience operating laboratory analyzers and following routine quality control procedures.
- Ability to perform manual blood smear evaluations and differentials.
- Experience using a Laboratory Information System (LIS) or similar data platform.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
- Ability to work onsite at the Scottsdale facility and travel locally during the workday.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work onsite in a laboratory setting and drive locally during the workday.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods.
- Ability to perform fine motor laboratory tasks accurately.
- Ability to safely handle biological specimens and work in both laboratory and transportation settings.
Work Environment
This is a fully onsite position based in Scottsdale, Arizona. The role requires regular work inside the laboratory as well as local travel to client locations for specimen and supply pick-up and delivery. Employees in this role must be comfortable balancing laboratory bench work with driving responsibilities as part of their normal schedule.

Pay: $47,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
