Kwenda Collegiate Girls is a public, tuition-free, feminist K-8 girls' school rooted in the idea that true gender justice begins with ensuring our girls have access to an excellent, gender-responsive, anti-racist, college-preparatory education. We are a slow growth school opening our doors in Brooklyn in Fall 2026 to students in kindergarten and first grade.
Our mission is to reimagine schooling so that all girls and gender-expansive youth have access to an excellent education that empowers them to lead self-determined lives full of promise, wonder, and ease.
Where You’ll Come In
We’re seeking a passionate and skilled Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our founding team in a part-time capacity. As an SLP at Kwenda, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our students—particularly our youngest learners in Kindergarten and 1st grade—develop the communication skills they need to access rigorous academic content and fully participate in a joyful, affirming school community.
This role is ideal for a clinician who believes deeply in early intervention, whole-child development, and equity in access to language and communication. You will work closely with teachers, families, and the student support team to provide high-quality, individualized services and to build staff capacity to support language development in the classroom.

- Provide strategies, modeling, and tools to teachers to support students with communication needs in the classroom setting
- Partner with the student support team to ensure cohesive and aligned services across academic, behavioral, and social-emotional domains
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute clear, actionable insights about student progress and needs
Whole Child & Family Partnership
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with students and families
- Communicate regularly with families about student progress, strategies, and ways to support speech and language development at home
- Support a whole-child approach by considering the intersection of communication, identity, confidence, and student voice
- Contribute to a school culture that affirms students’ identities and promotes belonging and self-expression
Compliance & Systems
- Ensure all services and documentation are compliant with federal, state, and local regulations
- Maintain organized records and manage caseload responsibilities effectively in a part-time schedule
- Support the development of strong school-wide systems for student support as part of a founding team
Student Recruitment (all Kwenda employees)
- Contribute to the school’s student recruitment efforts, recognizing that all Kwenda team members play a role in attracting and retaining students as the school grows
