Sports Art Director

JOB PURPOSE

We’re looking for a Sports Art Director to lead the visual storytelling of our sports accounts across all digital and social platforms. You’ll set the creative vision for campaigns, manage a team of designers, and work hand-in-hand with strategists, copywriters, and content producers to deliver thumb-stopping visuals that resonate with fans worldwide.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

• Lead the concepting and art direction of campaigns for sports clients (clubs, leagues, sponsors, athletes) across social media platforms.
• Translate briefs into compelling visual narratives, from mood boards to final execution.
• Oversee day-to-day design output: graphics, motion assets, matchday content, live social templates, and brand guidelines.
• Collaborate with strategists and content leads to ensure visuals align with tone, platform and audience.
• Manage and mentor designers, and freelancers, ensuring consistency and quality across all deliverables.
• Stay ahead of design and sports content trends, and proactively bring fresh ideas to the table.
• Coordinate with photographers, videographers, and production teams during shoots or live events to ensure creative vision is achieved.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Reports To Content Manager

Education Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Fine Arts, or related design field

Experience

5+ years of experience in art direction, graphic design, or creative direction within an agency, sports media or related environment.

Skills

• Deep understanding of social platforms (Instagram, TikTok, X/Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Snapchat) and how to adapt creative for each.
• Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects); familiarity with AI-powered creative tools (e.g., Midjourney, Firefly, Runway) is a plus.
• Experience leading a team of designers and managing multiple deadlines at once.
• Passion for sports culture and the ability to translate fan insights into bold visual ideas.
• Familiarity with real-time workflows, quick turnarounds, and live event coverage.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
