Are you passionate about sports and storytelling?

We are looking for an experienced Sports Writer to join our Editorial Team and play a role in creating impactful content. If you have a nose for breaking news, a strong grasp of regional & international sports and a flair for digital journalism, we want to hear from you.

What you will do?

• Report to the Sports Editor and contribute to daily editorial output
• Write and publish high quality sports stories, features and articles
• Generate own news stories and write strong headlines
• Develop original content ideas and pitch fresh story angles
• Engage content by selecting strong visuals and multimedia
• Use social media to find leads, expand reach and drive traffic

• Proven ability to deliver accurate copy under tight deadlines
• Strong news gathering skills and the ability to break original stories
• Excellent headline writing and storytelling abilities
• Confident working independently and as part of a team
• Skilled in using CMS platforms, image libraries, and social media tools
• In-depth knowledge of regional and international sports, teams and athletes

Essential Skills

• Must have a educational background in journalism with over 5 years of experience in newspaper or digital media, with a primary focus on sports writing.
• Comfortable working in a fast paced newsroom environment
• Excellent communication skills and strong editorial judgment
• Well connected within the sports community is a plus
