Spring/Summer Accounting Internship

Company Information:
Saddle Mountain Ranches, Inc. is a family owned farming operating, consisting of cattle, hay, and corn. We are located in Othello, WA.

Summary:
Provide leadership and coordination of company financial planning, debt financing, and budget management functions. Ensure company accounting procedures and financial statements conform to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Farm Financial Accounting Standards.

Primary Responsibilities:
-Direct and coordinate company financial planning and budget management functions.
-Recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance of production and profit centers and provide recommendations for procedural improvements.
-Put together project reports, analyzing financial information to recommend budgetary decisions and report this information to the CEO.
-Use of CenterPoint Accounting software to enter daily journal entry transactions, bill paying, accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset depreciation, budgeting, and payroll operations.
-Use of Microsoft Excel to use various worksheets analyzing the budget and other accounting financial ratios.

Candidates must possess the following knowledge & skills in some capacity:
-Currently enrolled for a Business, Accounting or Finance degree is preferred
-Have a thorough understanding of general accounting, and working knowledge of other fields in accounting. (i.e. cost, tax, managerial, budgeting)
-Ability to professionally write and verbally communicate in an office setting.
-Must be able to self-manage and simultaneously juggle multiple projects.
-Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software, and preferably experience with any accounting software.

Hours:
Approximately 20-40 hours per week, depending on the workload and time of year. This position has a flexible schedule and can work around schooling and various commitments.

Wages:
$19.00-$21.00/hour depending on experience

Other Information:
Candidate must have reliable transportation to Othello if they are out of town. Gas will be provided for commuting.

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
