Job Description

We are looking for a skilled and proactive SQL Database Administrator to join our team. You’ll play a key role in managing, optimizing, and migrating database systems in both on-premise and cloud environments, including Azure SQL Database (both PaaS and IaaS models). This position requires hands-on experience with SQL Server, cloud databases, and CI/CD pipelines, as well as the flexibility to work rotating shifts to support 24/7 operations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and optimize SQL Server databases, ensuring high performance, availability, and security.
  • Manage and support Azure SQL Database PaaS and SQL Server on Azure VMs (IaaS), including deployments, backups, performance tuning, and monitoring.
  • Participate in rotating shift schedules and on-call duties as required.
  • Plan and execute database migrations from on-premise to Azure, including assessment, schema/data movement, and post-migration optimization.
  • Design, develop, deploy, and maintain SSIS packages for ETL processes, data transformation, and integration between systems.
  • Collaborate with development teams to build and maintain robust database environments from ideation to implementation.
  • Ensure database systems adhere to security, compliance, and availability requirements.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for database architecture, configurations, and processes.
  • Utilize CI/CD pipelines for database code deployment and version control.
  • Leverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform to provision and manage cloud database infrastructure (desirable).

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator working with SQL Server.
  • Proven experience managing Azure SQL Database (PaaS) and SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines (IaaS).
  • Experience with cloud migration strategies and tools (e.g., Azure Data Migration Service, BACPAC, log shipping, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of database design, performance tuning, and optimization.
  • Proficiency in T-SQL, backup/recovery, indexing strategies, and database security.
  • Familiarity with Azure Monitor, Azure Security Center, and automated alerting for database health.
  • Strong analytical ability, strategic thinking, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
