About the Role
We’re partnering with a high-growth technology company building large-scale, cloud-native data infrastructure that powers real-time products and mission-critical internal platforms.
This is a backend engineering role focused on distributed systems, data movement, streaming infrastructure, and platform services.
This is not a traditional Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer, BI, Reporting, or Dashboard-focused position.
We’re looking for engineers who have built production systems around real-time data ingestion, telemetry, event streaming, scalable APIs, and distributed backend services.
What You'll Do
- Build and scale distributed backend systems handling real-time and near real-time data
- Design and develop ingestion frameworks and event-driven architectures processing high-volume platform and telemetry data
- Build APIs and backend services that expose critical data to product and engineering teams
- Improve reliability, latency, observability, and scalability across core platform infrastructure
- Partner closely with product, infrastructure, and platform engineering teams on 0→1 initiatives
- Contribute to cloud-native architecture, platform modernization, and operational excellence efforts
- Drive projects end-to-end from design through production deployment and ongoing ownership
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of software engineering experience
- Strong backend engineering and distributed systems fundamentals
- Experience building and operating real-time or near-real-time ingestion systems in production
- Hands-on development experience in Java, Python, or Node.js
- Experience with Kafka, Pub/Sub, Kinesis, or similar event-streaming technologies
- Experience designing and building scalable APIs, backend services, or platform infrastructure
- Experience with cloud environments such as GCP or AWS
- Strong ownership mentality and ability to independently drive technical initiatives
- Experience working on customer-facing products or large-scale internal platforms
Preferred Experience
- Telemetry, IoT, mobility, logistics, fintech, infrastructure, cybersecurity, or large-scale consumer products
- Kubernetes and microservices-based architectures
- High-throughput data platforms and event-driven systems
- Streaming platforms, operational analytics, classification systems, or ML infrastructure
- Experience at organizations known for engineering scale and operational excellence
Engineers Who Tend to Succeed Here
- Have built systems, not just pipelines
- Understand how data moves through distributed systems in production
- Enjoy solving scalability, reliability, and performance challenges
- Can operate effectively in fast-moving and sometimes ambiguous environments
- Communicate well across engineering, product, and infrastructure teams
- Take ownership of systems beyond initial delivery
Not the Right Fit If Your Background Is Primarily
- Business Intelligence (BI)
- Dashboard Development
- Reporting & Visualization
- Analytics Engineering
- SQL-heavy Reporting Roles
- Traditional ETL Development without significant backend engineering experience

- Candidates should be prepared to discuss specific projects and technical contributions during the interview process
Applications without a LinkedIn profile or verifiable work history may not be considered.
Compensation
Expected base salary range is $160,000–$220,000, though final leveling and compensation will depend on experience, technical depth, location, and overall fit.
Total compensation may include bonus, equity/RSUs, and additional benefits.
