Sr. Business Analyst

This position is being recruited through the Papa Murphy's International subsidiary of MTY Food Group, a publicly traded company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange ("MTY"). MTY's family of 80+ restaurant brands include mainstays such as Cold Stone Creamery, Famous Dave's, and Papa Murphy's.
The Senior Business Analyst (Sr. BA) is a key member of the MTY Tech Group and serves as a critical link between business partners and delivery teams. This role is responsible for understanding business needs, clarifying desired outcomes, and translating those needs into clear, actionable requirements that enable efficient and effective solution delivery.

The Sr. Business Analyst partners closely with business leaders, project managers, and technology teams to ensure initiatives are focused on solving the right business problems, minimizing rework, and delivering measurable value. This role emphasizes practical analysis, clear communication, and speed-to-clarity over heavy process or unnecessary documentation.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand objectives, challenges, and desired outcomes through effective, non-technical conversations.
  • Elicit, analyze, and clarify business needs, constraints, assumptions, and success criteria to ensure a shared understanding of scope and intent.
  • Translate business needs into clear, structured functional and technical requirements that project teams can execute against with confidence.
  • Act as a bridge between business and technology teams, ensuring alignment throughout design, build, and delivery.
  • Support initiative planning by helping teams define scope, dependencies, priorities, and trade-offs early to reduce downstream changes and rework.
  • Continuously validate requirements and assumptions as initiatives progress, adjusting as needed to maintain alignment with business goals.
  • Identify gaps, risks, and ambiguities early and work collaboratively with stakeholders to resolve them quickly.
  • Contribute to improving how business needs are captured and communicated, focusing on what works best in practice, not rigid methodology.
  • Support solution testing, validation, and adoption by ensuring delivered solutions meet business intent.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the success of the team and the organization.

  • Salary range: $120,000-$125,000. Actual offer may vary from posted hiring range based on location, work experience, and/or education.

Foundations of your career:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, information systems, engineering, or a related field required; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Minimum seven years of experience in a Business Analyst or similar role supporting technology, data, digital, or operational initiatives.
  • Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP - IIBA) or PMI Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA).
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with business leaders and translating needs into technical or functional requirements.
  • Experience working within technology delivery environments, including collaboration with developers, data teams, vendors, or external partners.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to understand how solutions impact operations, customers, and financial outcomes.
