Sr. Commodity Manager - Indirect Procurement

As part of this transformation, we are seeking a Senior Commodity Manager – Indirect Procurement to own and optimize a complex portfolio of indirect spend across multiple sites and functions.

Role Summary:

Reporting to the Vice President of Procurement & Supply Chain, the Senior Commodity Manager – Indirect Procurement will be responsible for the development and execution of category strategies, supplier management, and cost optimization initiatives across Axillon’s indirect spend portfolio. You will partner cross-functionally with Finance, IT, Operations, HR, Facilities, and Engineering teams to centralize and professionalize the sourcing of indirect goods and services.

Key Indirect Categories:

  • IT & Software (licensing, hardware, infrastructure, SaaS, AMS/hosting)
  • Professional Services (legal, HR, marketing, finance, recruiting)
  • Facilities & Utilities (maintenance contracts, janitorial, security, landscaping, waste)
  • MRO & Consumables (indirect plant supplies, PPE, safety, lubricants, tooling)
  • Consulting Services (engineering support, business transformation, digital, ERP)
  • Capital Equipment & Machine Maintenance (service contracts, calibration, repair)
  • Travel & Fleet (corporate travel, vehicle leasing, logistics support)
  • Temporary Labor / Contractors
  • Telecom & Network Services
  • Employee Services (food service, vending, uniforms, wellness)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own ~$30–50M in indirect spend across 6 U.S. sites
  • Develop and implement category strategies to drive cost savings, mitigate risk, and improve supplier performance
  • Lead sourcing events (RFx), contract negotiations, supplier selection, and onboarding
  • Consolidate spend and reduce fragmentation across locations and departments
  • Collaborate with functional stakeholders to understand business needs and ensure procurement alignment
  • Implement supplier performance management and service level agreements (SLAs)
  • Partner with Finance to track and report realized savings, working capital improvements, and budget alignment
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and regulatory requirements
  • Serve as company’s Indirect Spend Category SME and matrix-manage site-level buyers and planners for indirect spend
  • Please note that the salary range information is only applicable for California. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location as well as market and business considerations. Pay Range: $160K to $175K per yr.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years of procurement experience, including 3+ years in indirect categories
  • Proven track record of category strategy development and execution
  • Strong negotiation and contract manaement skills
  • Experience managing complex supplier relationships and internal stakeholders
  • Understanding of ERP systems and digital procurement tools
  • Ability to thrive in a matrixed, high-growth, high-speed environment
  • US Person status (due to ITAR requirements)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPSM, CPM, or equivalent certification
  • Aerospace, manufacturing, or multi-site industrial experience
  • Familiarity with IT contracts, facilities, leases, and consulting agreements
  • Prior involvement in a procurement transformation or centralization initiative
