Job Title: Senior Data Engineer
Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer with 6+ years of hands-on experience in designing, building, and optimizing data pipelines and architectures. The ideal candidate will take ownership of complex data systems, lead data engineering initiatives, and play a key role in shaping our organization’s data infrastructure and analytics capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable and high-performance data pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
- Architect and implement data models, warehouses, and data lakes to support analytics, machine learning, and business intelligence.
- Lead efforts to modernize data platforms using cloud-based technologies (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to deliver clean, reliable, and accessible data.
- Implement best practices for data governance, data quality, and data security.
- Develop and maintain ETL/ELT processes, automating data ingestion and transformation workflows.
- Optimize performance of databases and big data systems for efficiency and scalability.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to establishing data engineering standards and frameworks.
- Evaluate and recommend new tools, technologies, and methodologies to improve data infrastructure.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
- 6+ years of professional experience in data engineering or data architecture roles.
- Expert-level proficiency in SQL and programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
- Proven experience with big data technologies such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, or Flink.
- Strong experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS Redshift, Azure Synapse, Google BigQuery, or Snowflake).
- Deep understanding of data modeling, ETL design, and data warehousing principles.
- Hands-on experience with orchestration tools like Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster.
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) and CI/CD tools (Terraform, Git, Jenkins).
- Solid understanding of data security, privacy, and compliance frameworks (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with real-time data processing and streaming architectures.
- Exposure to machine learning pipelines or data platform automation.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience integrating data visualization and BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker).
- Strong project leadership skills and ability to drive initiatives independently.
