Job Title: Sr.Design Engineer - Mechanical
Job Location: Dubai, UAE
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
Registrations / Certifications:
- Registered Engineer with UAE Society of Engineers.
- Approved Engineer in Dubai Municipality (DEWA) - Mandatory requirement
- Approved Engineer in Dubai Civil Defense( DCD) will be as an advantage.
- EMAAR Approved engineer.
- Certifications in NFPA, ASHRAE, LEED/ESTIDAMA (preferred).
Experience:
- 10 to 15 years of experience in mechanical system design for high-rise commercial, residential, and hospitality buildings.
- Minimum 10 years of GCC experience, preferably within the UAE.
- Good technical background in HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and firefighting systems in compliance with international and local authority standards (Municipality, DCD/ADCD, etc.).
Computer Software Proficiency:
- Proficient in AutoCAD & Microsoft Office. Revit MEP will be added advantage.
- Skilled in mechanical design tools such as HAP, Elite, etc.
- Familiar with BIM coordination tools.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed mechanical designs (Shop drawings) including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and firefighting systems in accordance with project specifications and applicable standards.
- Perform load calculations using HAP or equivalent software and determine equipment capacities, duct sizes, and piping requirements.
- Identify design and constructability issues and raise RFIs where required.
- Prepare design drawings, schematics, and single-line diagrams in coordination with architectural and structural layouts.
- Review design documents to ensure compliance with ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, and relevant authority requirements.
- Select and specify major mechanical equipment including chillers, FAHUs, AHUs, FCUs, pumps, valves, and control components.
- Prepare BOQs, material specifications, and engineering design reports.
- Coordinate closely with consultants, clients, and other engineering disciplines (electrical, civil, architectural) to resolve technical issues and ensure effective system integration.
- Identify Value Engineering and cost-saving opportunities during design development.
- Participate in BIM coordination meetings and ensure all mechanical services are clash-free and properly routed.
- Support QA/QC teams by reviewing inspection and testing procedures for design compliance.
- Ensure that all design deliverables are properly documented, updated, and maintained in accordance with ISO quality procedures.
- Prepare as-built design documentation and final reports required for project handover.
- Assist in developing commissioning plans and validating system performance based on design criteria.
- Stay updated on authority regulations, energy efficiency guidelines, and emerging mechanical design technologies.
