POSITION OVERVIEW:


The Sr. Digital Platform Manager is responsible for overseeing the development, management, and strategy of digital platforms and content for WETA’s National Digital Productions. This role involves leading the execution of web and digital projects, coordinating livestreams and digital events, managing multi-platform video production, and driving audience engagement through compelling digital storytelling. The Sr. Digital Platform Manager plays a central role in ensuring brand consistency and excellence across WETA National Production’s programs and digital properties. This position is located in Shirlington, VA, and reports to the Senior Director, National Digital Content.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Manage the end-to-end planning, execution, and maintenance of websites for national programs and one-off productions.
  • Develop and manage the creation of dedicated show pages and oversee implementation of WETA National content on PBS platforms.
  • Conceptualize, produce, publish, and manage unique original digital content including articles, videos, interactive features, and multimedia across multiple platforms.
  • Oversee live streaming for special events, ensuring seamless delivery across web and social channels.
  • Serve as senior social media lead for high-profile shows, developing platform-specific strategies to increase reach and engagement.
  • Analyze digital performance using web, video, and social media analytics to inform strategic decisions and optimize audience growth.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, talent, and external partners to ensure high-quality execution of digital initiatives.
  • Develop, support, and maintain YouTube strategies ensuring consistent video publishing, optimization, and growth.
  • Provide editorial oversight for the production of short-form digital content, including weekly highlights and promotional clips.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:


  • College degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in digital media, content strategy, or production, ideally in a public media or broadcast environment
  • Strong editorial judgment and storytelling instincts
  • Proficiency with content management systems and video platforms
  • Ability to lead and execute live-streaming events and simultaneous broadcasts
  • Expertise in social media management and audience engagement
  • Skilled in editing, writing, and content curation for diverse digital audiences
  • Strong grasp of SEO, UX best practices, and accessibility in digital design
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

LOCATION:


WETA and NewsHour Productions are Washington, DC established media and news organizations. We are a largely local workforce based out of the Campbell Place office in Arlington, VA. WETA and NewsHour Productions value employee flexibility when possible. Most positions based in our Arlington, VA office will be onsite or hybrid, depending upon the role.
