BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position is to serve as quality control for city projects, inspect all projects, provide technical support for engineering activities, assist, train and supervise field crews, assist drafters, and test materials. This is accomplished by inspecting and surveying, obtaining survey data, reading and understanding construction plans, updating project managers, answering citizen inquiries, observing contractor work, and reporting results. Other duties include assisting survey crews, assisting with testing, completing additional tests, and documenting findings.

# Code Essential Functions
1 L Regular and reliable attendance in compliance with given schedules is a mandatory requirement of this position. Schedules may be subject to change with or without advance notice
2 L Perform advanced drafting and calculations in support of design activities; perform intermediate design work; accomplishes non-routine assignments; uses AutoCad, GIS and other automated interactive programs. Complete drafting and design assignments by researching project records and utility maps, processing survey data, and performing calculations. Reviews work done by others for drafting and calculation errors. Serves as lead worker and trains less experienced technicians.
3 L Prepare construction plans and specifications for construction projects such as streets, underground utilities and drainage structures. Prepare quantity summaries, gather and process survey field data and compile data for various studies; develop maps and graphic presentations that include distinctive design features; maintain project records and prepare reports.
4 L Perform construction inspection, serve on survey crew and prepare field notes; file and make copies; and compile and reproduce plan sets.
5 L Perform additional duties as required to provide technical support to the Engineering Division.
