Job Description: Senior Manager – Architecture & Urban Planning
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Senior Manager, Architecture & Urban Design to join our development team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in guiding the architectural design direction and master planning delivery of a diversified large-sized mixed-use community master plan. Acting on the client side, this position involves managing external consultants, ensuring high-quality design standards, optimizing building efficiency, and securing all necessary building codes, planning and authority approvals. This is a cross-disciplinary role with a strong foundation in architecture, and significant exposure to urban design and master planning processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Oversight & Coordination:
- Lead the design management process for the building, master plan and associated plots design from concept to detailed stages.
- Provide architectural and urban design directions to external master planning and architectural consultants.
- Review design submissions, architectural drawings, and urban layouts for compliance with project vision and standards.
Master Plan and Design Management:
- Coordinate with planning authorities and consultants to drive approvals of the master plan and subsequent building plot development including building permits.
- Ensure that master plan aligns with development strategy, phasing, land use mix, and statutory guidelines.
Building Efficiency & Development Goals:
- Review and validate building efficiency, test fits, and gross-to-net area ratios to ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Provide input on plot-level massing, access, setbacks, and program optimization based on market and operational needs.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Liaise with internal stakeholders including development, sales, legal, and infrastructure teams to ensure project alignment.
- Interface with government authorities, utility providers, and regulatory bodies to facilitate approvals.
Quality & Compliance:
- Ensure all design work adheres to relevant codes, regulations, and authority requirements.
- Maintain quality standards across design outputs and oversee timely delivery of consultant work.
Qualifications & Skills:
- A professional degree in Architecture is required
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience, with proven experience managing large-scale or mid-sized master plans from a design standpoint point and coordinating with multidisciplinary consultants.
- Strong understanding of design management, master plan approvals, and authority coordination in the UAE or GCC.
- Strong technical knowledge of architectural detailing, building typologies, and urban regulations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in design review tools (AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, Bluebeam, etc.); familiarity with GIS, Revit, or BIM a plus.
