Salary
This position has a base salary range of $128,000 - $192,000 USD Annual . This range represents the expected base salary range for this position. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience and time in the role.
Summary
This role is responsible for managing the profitability and business development analytics teams at BCU. The Sr. Manager will lead these teams to collaborate with key areas of the business, develop analytical frameworks for solving problems, and ultimately assist BCU in making decisions that drive sustainable growth, profitability, and member value.

Role and Responsibilities

Profitability and Business Analytics Team:
1. Manages a team of two analysts by establishing goals, prioritizing project work, and encouraging career development to build a strong pipeline of talent within the department.
2. Build relationships with VP+ management across the organization, understanding key strategic questions and data pain points, and leverage data to influence value-added changes.
3. Act as primary resource for analyzing high impact, ad-hoc data requests from executive and senior leaders, such as: new branch investments, CUSO equity investments, loan sales and other capital markets transactions, return on investment (ROI) calculations for large vendor relationships/investments.
4. Work with Business Development and Corporate Partner Relations teams to build new company partner pro forma financials and measure expected return on investment.
5. Responsible for developing and championing the vision for profitability and performance measurement at the credit union, partnering with BCU's product managers to refine product models and optimize pricing.
6. Leads the monthly Pricing Committee, shepherding meaningful discussion around profitability trends and pricing decisions amongst senior and executive leaders.

Ad-Hoc Finance Projects:
7. In reporting directly to the VP, Finance and Risk, the Senior Manager will have direct exposure and participation in high-visibility finance projects and business assignments, such as:
a. Mergers and acquisitions analysis
b. Asset-liability management and investment portfolio & derivative transactions
c. Treasury and liquidity risk management, including working closely with deposit product and treasury teams on pricing and optimal funding strategies
d. Credit risk management and current expected credit losses (CECL) modeling
e. Capital planning and stress testing
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required, with specialization in an analytical field such as finance, economics, math, statistics, or computer science. MBA or master's degree strongly preferred.
  • 8+ years of overall related experience, with 2+ years of financial institution experience preferred.
  • Strong relationship management skills. Ability to build relationships with VP+ stakeholders across the organization, understand data pain points, and leverage team to solve problems.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Strong technical and conceptual understanding of profitability and risk; provides effective guidance to help team members solve problems and prioritize correctly.
  • Analytical, structured, data-driven approach to problem solving; ability to create recommendations with data.
  • Systematically drives the identification and execution of opportunities to generate significant improvements in key performance metrics for area managed.
  • Develops well-thought-out recommendations that consider options and weigh pros/cons, risks, as well as stakeholder and bottom-line impact.
  • Effective capacity planning and allocation of resources for maximum leverage ("bang for the buck") in alignment with department priorities; actively manages backlog of "next in line" and "below the line" opportunities.
