Logistics Procurement Senior Manager, Dedicated Fleet

This role is responsible for developing and executing the sourcing strategy for dedicated fleets and truckload transportation. The individual is also responsible for identifying cost saving initiatives, project management and implementation, contract negotiations, and building relationships with suppliers, internal departments, stakeholders, and sites to manage and deliver to business expectations and requirements. This senior role will drive process standardization, continuous improvement, provide mentorship to less tenured team members, and use their experience to unlock value across the enterprise.

This role will cover multiple modes of transportation including primarily Dedicated Fleets and box plant truckload, with some exposure to LTL and private tractor/trailer leases. The estimated spend across Dedicated Fleets and box plant truckload is $500M, supporting multiple sites across North America.

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:

* Work with Logistics Procurement colleagues and leadership to develop and execute sourcing strategies for dedicated fleets and box plant truckload that focuses on service and value, that delivers results through cost reduction, cost avoidance, capacity management, process improvement, and meets business requirements.
* Manage supplier relationships and work closely with other mode managers, analysts, regional logistics managers, logistics operations, and business units to improve carrier performance.
* Conduct bid events timed to coincide with contract expirations and as needed for new opportunities. Negotiate annual rate increases and cost offsets; manage implementations with awarded suppliers.
* Provide mentorship to less tenured team members, drive process standardization, identify cost take-out opportunities, and focus on continuous improvement.
* Develop and present budget forecasts to logistics management and internal stakeholders. Track financial results and report on cost savings/cost avoidance/inflation.
* Monitor market trends and develop subject matter expertise in the category.
* Build relationships with plant personnel (general managers and shipping) to ensure understanding of business requirements and the impact of dedicated fleets and truckload on their operations.
* Serve as a category leader and escalation contact to the field to resolve service issues and work with Finance and Freight Payables to ensure supplier statements of account are maintained in good standing.
* Manage monthly reporting requirements, quarterly business reviews, and focus on continuous improvement and streamlining of processes.

What you need to succeed:

* Bachelor’s Degree with Minimum 7 years Logistics experience.
* Skilled in supplier relations, including carrier development, pricing negotiations, contract negotiations, and performance management.
* Strong communication and presentation skills.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills on both a strategic and operational level.
* Demonstrated ability to build stakeholder relationships and influence outcomes.
* Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, especially Excel.
* Dedicated fleet transportation experience is preferred.
* Cost modeling and financial analysis experience is preferred.
* Team Lead, Project Lead, Supervisor, or Manager experience is preferred.
* Transportation Management System (TMS) user experience is preferred.
* Approximately 10% travel.
